 Stan Raphael is a respected trial litigation lawyer and currently the firm’s Managing Partner. He was appointed as a Queen’s Counsel in 1984. A certified specialist in civil litigation since 1989, he has appeared at all levels of tribunals and courts throughout Ontario, as well as the Supreme Court of Canada.
During a law career that spans over 35 years, Stan has represented major Canadian corporations and also defended numerous civil litigation claims for insurance companies in both Canada and the United States. His commitment to Ontario’s justice system was recognized in 1980 with his appointment as Deputy Judge in the Superior Court of Justice (Whitby Small Claims Court), where he continues to serve on a part-time basis.
A graduate of Yeshiva University in New York City and York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School, Stan has led seminars in the Civil Litigation section of the Bar Admission Course, chaired many seminars dealing with numerous aspects of insurance law, and testified in the Superior Court of Florida as an expert in Ontario Insurance Law. He has also completed the Program of Instruction of Lawyers at the Mediation Workshop at Harvard Law School in Boston.
 Stan is actively involved in the community, both professionally and personally, through memberships in the American Trial Lawyers Association, the Advocates’ Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, the Medical-Legal Society of Toronto, and the Metropolitan Toronto Lawyer’s Association.
Stan is a former board member of the Reena Foundation and he presently serves as a director of the Jewish Civil Rights Education Foundation of Canada and is a director of the Ontario Deputy Judges Association.
Stan and his wife Joanne have three sons and four granddaughters.
